I've run my own small business since 2005, so I know how hard the getting found bit is. That's why I made this. It's a directory of independent businesses, all of them run by real people.
Have a look round. If you find someone you like, buy from them, book them, or pass their name on. And if you run a small business yourself, you can be on here too. Listings come with membership of my Small Business Marketing Club.
If you're looking for a business
Support A Small Business is here to make it easier to find brilliant independent businesses.
Some sell products, some provide services and some do both. What they have in common is that they are independently owned businesses that would love you to discover them.
How to find what you want
Use the search box to look for a particular type of business, service, product or location.
You could search for “cake Harrogate”, “dog walker”, “bookkeeper”, “wedding photographer” or simply the thing you need.
Or, if you're not quite sure what you're looking for, browse the categories and see who you discover.
Buying, booking and hiring
When you find a business you like, you can click through to their own website, shop, social media or booking page to find out more, buy, enquire or book.
You'll be dealing directly with that business, so their own prices, delivery information, availability, terms and cancellation policies will apply.
Support A Small Business doesn't take a commission or sit in the middle of the transaction. We simply help you find independent businesses you might otherwise never have come across.
So have a browse. You might find your new favourite shop, the person you call next time you need something done, or a small business you end up recommending to everyone.
If you own a business
Listings are free with your membership
Every business here is a member of one of my memberships - the Small Business Marketing Club, Recurring Income Academy or Elite. A listing is included free with any of them: no charge on top, no upgrade, and no way to pay for a better position. While you are a member, your listing stays up.
You do not have to write anything clever
You fill in a short form about what you sell, who it is for and what people usually come to you for. We write the listing from your answers, in the words a customer would actually search for rather than industry ones. You get your logo, a photo, a page of your own, and a button straight through to you.
One business, up to two areas
Pick the area that fits best, and a second one if it genuinely applies. Keeping it to two is deliberate: it means somebody browsing is not scrolling past the same business over and over, and it keeps every listing findable rather than scattered.
What happens after you submit
Listings are checked before they go live, so allow a few days. We will email you when yours is up. If anything changes later, fill the form in again with the same email address and it will update your listing rather than making a second one.
